Major/Minor: BHA in Art and Anthropology, Minor in Photography and Art History

Why Carnegie Mellon? I decided to enroll in Carnegie Mellon because the academic program offered was perfect for me, the university has a good reputation, and I received a lot of financial aid. Plus, there is that Crazy Scottish fetish – where else are you going to find THAT? How did you choose your major? I selected my major prior to my freshman year. I really liked the fact that Carnegie Mellon had a major specifically for people with multiple interests, and that the university doesn’t force its students to choose one or the other. Do you live on- or off-campus? I live in my sorority. I had to move in to the sorority house my junior year, but I have loved it. It is great to still be on-campus and living with 15 friends. What do you do for fun during the week, in addition to your homework? I get together with friends and watch TV, go out to dinner and visit the museums: Carnegie Museum of Art, the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, the Frick, Mattress Factory, etc. Are you involved in any campus organizations? I am involved in Tri Delta Sorority and the Office of Admission. What is your favorite class? Please describe. Evolutionary Psychology – it was my first and only Psych class, but the professor was amazing and I learned so much. It completely changed the way I thought about everything. Are you planning to work on any research/internships? I received a SURG/Independent Study grant during my junior year and will be working on a senior honors thesis my senior year. What are your plans after graduation? Graduate school. Are there any fun traditions that you want future Carnegie Mellon students to follow? Roll the wheelie chairs down Baker Hall during Orientation. If there was one thing you could tell a prospective student about Carnegie Mellon, what would it be? Your Carnegie Mellon experience will always be what you make of it – there are a ton of opportunities here, and if you are the type of person who takes advantage of this then you will have an incredible experience. There is a place for everyone here, but only if you have the initiative to seek it out and reap it for all it is worth.
