Especially for Women

In the last couple of decades, the university has worked very hard to welcome and nurture women students and faculty as we realized that, as an institution known for its challenging sciences and engineering, our fraction of women students and faculty was not as high as it should be. Currently, 40% of our undergraduate students are women.

Dr. Indira Nair, vice provost for education at Carnegie Mellon, describes the university as "a very special place." With a spirit of discovery, and interaction among disciplines, we place an emphasis on understanding and solving real, important social problems as we advance knowledge in various fields.
