Student Activities

At Carnegie Mellon, our students work hard inside and outside the classroom. The words of founder Andrew Carnegie, “My heart is in the work,” ring true in all aspects of student life. With 17 varsity sports, over 40 club and intramural sports and more than 150 clubs and organizations, including service projects and religious organizations, there’s ample opportunity for everyone to get involved.

Student activities span an extremely wide spectrum. Carnegie Mellon students participate in diverse organizations including: WRCT (the campus radio station which is a completely free format), Spirit (which promotes African American awareness on-campus), cmuOUT (the university’s gay-straight alliance), the Society for Creative Anachronism (devoted to the study of pre-seventeenth century Western culture), the Juggling Club and the Origami Club. You can rest assured that there is an outlet on campus or in Pittsburgh for almost any interest you may have.
