Make Sure You Know Which Tests to Take

Oftentimes prospective students find out during the fall term they did not take all the standardized tests they needed to or they did not get a score they are pleased with and would like to retake the exam. Checking each college's requirements and making sure you have taken all the tests will ensure that you will not find yourself in a similar situation. At the very least, schedule your tests so all they will all be completed prior to the application deadline. November is the last testing date accepted for Early Decision and the December test is the last one accepted for Regular Decision. Remember, some test dates only offer either the SAT Reasoning/ACT with Writing or SAT Subject Tests and some offer each test, so some foresight will be necessary in deciding when to take which test.

Keep in mind that while higher scores are always desirable, there are no cutoffs and no score will automatically deny you admission. If you took the ACT, you do not need to take the SAT Reasoning Test but will have to take the required SAT Subject Tests.
